YACS brushes shoulders with great YA authors! October 24, 2012

YACS has been busy with the start of a new quarter and great YA events throughout L.A.

First off, UCLA’s own Lisa M. Stasse gave a reading on October 17th of her new YA novel The ForsakenCongratulations to our local author!

The Santa Monica Public Library celebrated Teen Read Week with three great authors: Libba Bray (Sun. Oct. 14th), David Levithan, and Rachel Cohn (Sun. Oct. 21). All three authors gave insight into the realm of YA publishing – how their writing has been influenced by the times and popular themes, including dystopia and science fiction. Further, each author has made themselves approachable through various social media outlets, and they each commented on the importance of communication with their readers. Check out the spooky book trailer for Bray’s The Diviners here!
